Shipping guides
Practical advice to help your freight arrive on time and in one piece.
Packing for transit
- Use strong, double-walled boxes for heavier items and fill empty space so contents can't move.
- Stack pallets square and stable, and stretch-wrap them so loads stay together.
- Mark fragile items clearly, but pack them as if the label weren't there.
Labels and documents
- Put one label on the largest flat side and remove any old labels.
- For international shipments, include a commercial invoice with a clear description and value for every item.
- Keep a copy of every document you hand over.
Weight and dimensions
- Freight is charged on the greater of actual and volumetric weight.
- Measure the longest point of each side, including any packaging that sticks out.
- Accurate dimensions on booking avoid adjustments and delays later.
Shipping internationally
- Check that your goods are allowed in the destination country before you ship.
- Agree with your buyer who pays duties and taxes (the Incoterm) before booking.
- Allow time for customs clearance, especially for regulated goods.
